TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT β’ COMMUNITY ASSETS β’ DIGNITY & INCLUSION
The Cash for Work (CFW) Programme is a government social protection intervention designed to provide temporary employment opportunities to vulnerable Zambians while supporting the development, rehabilitation and maintenance of community assets.
The R-CFW can be understood as a conditional cash transfer programme, where the conditionality is the willingness to work on the part of the participants.
The R-CFW is generally a task-based and labour-intensive programme aimed at providing immediate financial relief to individuals in exchange for their labour on temporary public works. Government has therefore prioritised public works, which have become an important aspect of the country's response to poverty and unemployment.
